It is definitely summertime, and we have the ants to prove it! They have swarmed my kitchen looking for water and any speck of food that they can find. Not wanting to spray chemicals in my kitchen around our food and my girls, I searched online for a natural alternative. Turns out that ants hate cinnamon! I sprinkled it all over, right on top of the lines of marching ants, and they cleared out within minutes. Each morning I would come down and see that the ants had discovered an alternative route into the kitchen, but I just kept sprinkling cinnamon around. I went outside and sprinkled cinnamon around the perimeter of our house and yard, and now it has been two days since I’ve had an infestation. I still see a lone ant now and then, but I think that they are the ones left behind and not new ants. The only downside to this is that my kitchen sink and counters look like they have mounds of dirt all over them. But at least it smells nice!
