What a Difference a Year Makes!

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Jay and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary yesterday! It is hard to believe how much has happened in a year! It has been 1 year since either of us were at Henderson, 1 year since we’ve been married, and nearly a year since we moved to California. However, the only major difference from our original plan is that we are about to have a baby. Otherwise, Jay is still going to school at AnimationMentor.com and is on track to graduate in April 2007, he has a good job, and I am working for a dental office (albeit a better one that I had ever hoped for!). Although the baby is going to bring major changes, and of course we cannot see the future, we are looking forward to year a stability: living in one place and working at the same jobs. The last two years, although filled the brim with exciting changes, have left us exhausted from constantly being in a transition period.

We celebrated our landmark in true California style: a picnic on the bay. Our menu was simple: salmon sandwiches, chips, cherries from the local farmer’s market, French wine from our honeymoon (don’t worry, I only had a sip!), and the traditional, one-yr-old wedding cake- which had to be shipped over-night on dry ice to be here for the occasion. Although it was no longer square, I was duely impressed by how well the cake had lasted! It still tasted great, although Jay was not keen on the lemon filling. Now that the momentous day has passed, the only thought on my or Jay’s mind is: Will Raeleigh be born today?
