Location: The
Sterling House
Much like the
chapel,
Leigh Anne planned to have her reception at this house long
before I came along. The Sterling House is a beautiful house which
has been fully renovated to host weddings and receptions. The
insides are full of antiques and beautiful paintings, while the
outside hosts a large flower garden and a wooden gazebo for
dancing.
Music: Pat Henry’s
Swing Band
Leigh Anne and I love swing music and wanted to
incorporate it into our reception. Luckily, the music minister at my
mother’s church, Pat Henry, also leads a swing band and was
delighted to come to Northwest Arkansas to perform for our
reception. As soon as he was booked Leigh Anne dove into her
behemoth of a CD collection to find the perfect list of songs for
the reception. Many months later we have that list finalized and can
not wait until we can dance to them at the Sterling House.
Although, that does pose a new problem as we now have to learn how
to dance…
Cakes:
Rick's Bakery
I don’t think I have to describe how much I like cakes and other sweet
pastries of goodness but I will try. The easiest way to describe
Rick’s Bakery is that it is the ultimate bakery. The hardest way to
describe it would be without using adjectives. Their cakes are so
unique that some even seem to defy the laws of gravity. Although
Leigh Anne and I are going with their more traditional fare for our
wedding, we were tempted to use their other cakes just to discover
how they worked. Before you leave Northwest Arkansas, make sure you
stop by this store and treat yourself to some sweet pasties of
goodness.
Flowers:
Just Add Water
This was the flower shop that Leigh Anne picked for the wedding
so therefore it must have passed her rigorous testing process. I
really don’t know much about flower stores or wedding bouquets so I
trust she made a good decision. As long as the flowers don’t grow
too large and begin eating our guests I am completely satisfied with
our selection of a flower vendor. I must admit the store has a
creative name. |
